Doll Shop Dreams

A girl walking through a galleria happens upon a doll shop.

This piece was done for my figure painting class at the academy. This is the first oil painting I had done that involved using many concept images to be used in one painting. Photo ref. was used for the doll and the girl. The girl was part of a picture taken by my good friend Julia Reyes at the Dickens’ Christmas Fair. The doll is from a photo of myself from the same faire taken by my father. The background had to be made up from scratch because the high rez ref pic was not emailed to me in time. In my opinion the background was a complete failure and sadly the black walls of the dark outside of the shop did not turn out how I had imagined and the paint is somewhat flaking off. I see this piece as being a learning experience and I may go back and rework the background in the future. The lettering is not Photoshoped in but actually painted by hand… it took a long time trust me.
