Description

Because someone pointed out this is not a photoshoped altered photograph, the only photoshop used was to make the posterization! The artwork you see has been hand transferred & hand painted that said here is the description and please view in full

For this assignment we had to take a photograph and posterize it so it only had 6 values of grey then translate it into color. The catch is you can only use 2 complimentary colors, white & black but you can't use pure colors unless you have a good reason...sound complicated? Let me explain comp colors are exactly opposite on the color wheel and they don't share the same primary colors. I for example used ultramarine blue and yellow-orange. you may be asking well how did i get flesh ones for the face? Well that's what they call a mute a mute comes about when you start mixing to complimentaries together. So you see the only pure color in this painting is in the eyes.

My explanation for this was sadly lost on my teacher and class because not one of them has seen either dune or dune 2000. For any of you who have seen it the title will make sense for those who haven't here's the short end of it. The people in dune who eat this thing called "the spice" for any length of time develop ultra blue glowing eyes...also the planet is a large vast desert....so there you go.

I hope you have enjoyed my ramblings on color theory. Also here is the wip for the artwork. Also here are the details if you would like to see them. Also that said this is of Viggo Mortensen but not as Aragorn but as himself.
